Browse the Cheektowaga ZIP Code Directory

The Cheektowaga ZIP code directory helps sort postal addresses from the town and parcel boundaries that govern public records. A ZIP can narrow an address search, but it does not settle which municipal office holds a parcel or whether a mailing city matches the tax jurisdiction. Start with the delivery address, check the parcel on an official map, and then use the appropriate town or county record. That sequence is especially helpful around village and city edges, where one neighborhood can carry more than one familiar place name.

Map Cheektowaga ZIP Code Postal Coverage

Cheektowaga is an Erie County town with postal and municipal overlaps. The ZIP codes below are repeatedly identified by official Town, USPS, and state materials as serving the town or its edge addresses. Each row is postal coverage, not a parcel-by-parcel town boundary. The Town's tax and assessment record, along with Erie County On-Map, are the stronger sources for governmental jurisdiction. A postal city may say Buffalo, Depew, or Sloan while the parcel is in the Town of Cheektowaga.

Exact parcel-by-parcel ZIP boundaries were not found in a static local source. Verify a mailing ZIP with USPS, then check the parcel's tax and map record. That two-part check prevents a postal result from being mistaken for a Town of Cheektowaga boundary.

Note: A postal area can cross a municipal line, so label ZIP research as postal coverage unless a parcel source confirms jurisdiction.

Cheektowaga 14225 Uses Buffalo Mail

ZIP code 14225 is the local example that most clearly separates postal city from town. USPS lists the Cheektowaga Post Office at 125 Galleria Drive with a Buffalo, NY 14225-9998 postal address. The same ZIP serves central and north Cheektowaga areas as well as adjacent postal territory. A Buffalo postal label is therefore not enough to rule an address in or out of the town for tax, parcel, or Town records.

See the USPS Cheektowaga Post Office result for the local facility and its 14225 postal label.

The USPS result verifies the delivery-side naming convention. Use Erie County GIS or a Town parcel record to answer the separate question of town jurisdiction.

Cheektowaga Postal Edges at Sloan and Depew

Sloan and Depew require a closer read than a ZIP alone. Sloan is a separate village in the town's southwest geography and is associated with 14212. Depew straddles the Cheektowaga-Lancaster town line. The Village of Depew says Transit Road divides the village, with residents west of Transit in Cheektowaga and residents east of Transit in Lancaster. The Town's 2024 brochure expressly includes the 14043 Depew portion west of Transit in its resident definition.

These boundaries reflect Cheektowaga's record geography. Sloan developed around Delaware, Lackawanna & Western railroad shops established in 1890 and formed as a village in 1896. For older records, a newspaper, directory, or deed may use Sloan, Depew, Buffalo, or a road name instead of the current town label. Check the parcel, map, historical date, and custodian before combining results.

Cheektowaga Voter Lookup ZIP Input

NYS Voter Lookup is a personal registration-confirmation portal, not a ZIP browse tool. It asks for identifying information, including a five-digit ZIP Code tied to the voter address. The County field must be Erie for Cheektowaga. A no-match can reflect a spelling problem, date-of-birth or ZIP mismatch, inactive status, protected registration, or a portal limit. It does not establish that a person was never registered.

New York Election Law ยง 3-220 makes registration records public under Board supervision while excluding Social Security numbers, driver's-license and non-driver ID numbers, and facsimile numbers. The ordinary portal does not disclose ballot choices or offer a street or ZIP roster.

Note: For a broader records request, the Erie County Board of Elections FOIL form lists address and T/W/D sorting choices but requires advance payment and a certification against commercial use.

Cheektowaga Postal Checks Need Two Tools

Use USPS for delivery information and a government parcel source for jurisdiction. The Cheektowaga Online Tax Search provides Collection, Bill #, Tax Map #, Property Address, and Owner Name fields. Its instructions say to use one field at a time, omit a middle initial in an owner-name search, and omit a street suffix in a property-address search. It does not document a ZIP search field, which is why a verified address remains the safer entry point.

The tax-search screen shows the address and owner inputs available for parcel research.

The tax tool complements USPS and On-Map by associating the selected property with town tax information. It should not be read as a ZIP-wide parcel filter.

Erie County On-Map supplies the visual check. Its ZIPCODES layer can be shown with parcels, roads, school districts, wetlands, floodplain, and other geographic layers. The County says the map is not a survey, parcels were identified as current to 2025, and updates are monthly but not guaranteed.

Research Cheektowaga Addresses Before ZIPs

Modern ZIP codes do not solve historical address research. When an older record predates the current postal pattern, search the street name, address number, village or town label, nearest cross street, and legal description. The 1953/1955 Cheektowaga Historical Atlas, the 1870 register, recorded plats, deeds, census records, and library directories offer bridge points. No authoritative local street-renumbering chronology or exact local ZIP realignment history was located, so those gaps should remain gaps rather than be filled with assumptions.

The Erie County Clerk holds deeds from 1808, but its ordinary online land index begins in 1986 and images begin in 1960. Older searches can require a book/page, the Graves Index, microfilm, public terminals, or staff help. The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library genealogy collection adds directories, census material, maps, newspapers, yearbooks, and local-history resources when a modern address search stops.

Cheektowaga Postal Boundaries and Town Lines

For Cheektowaga, the address, mailing address, and legal description are different record keys. GIS and assessment systems use a parcel and situs address. Tax correspondence uses the mailing address. Deeds use parties, legal description, and book/page. USPS uses delivery ZIP and postal city. Voter data uses the registration address. That is why a Buffalo, Sloan, or Depew label can be accurate for mail while the land record belongs to the Town of Cheektowaga.

Boundary check. Verify delivery with USPS, then verify tax jurisdiction with the Town parcel record and Erie County On-Map before relying on a ZIP for public-record research.

Static sources did not locate a unique single-institution ZIP, a PO-box-only ZIP, or a confirmed realignment history for Cheektowaga. Do not infer one from an organization's mailing address. For a parcel question, the legal description, map, and assessment record outweigh the postal label.

ZIP Code
A postal delivery area used by USPS. It can include more than one municipality or only part of one.
ZIP+4
An added four-digit delivery detail used with the five-digit ZIP. It refines mail routing but does not set town jurisdiction.
PO-box ZIP
A ZIP assigned for post-office box delivery. No such Cheektowaga ZIP was located in the official material reviewed.
Unique ZIP
A ZIP assigned to a single organization or site. No verified Cheektowaga example was located in the reviewed sources.
Carrier route
A delivery route within a postal area. It is a mail-routing term, not a municipal boundary.

Note: The most reliable ZIP research pair is USPS for deliverability and Town or County parcel sources for the local government boundary.
